Dental implants

Dental implants explained

A dental implant is a small screw made of a biocompatible material, usually titanium or zirconia, that is surgically placed into the jaw bone, providing the foundation for the restoration which may be a single crown, bridge or a full denture (snap on or fixed).

Your restorative dentist or prosthodontist places the restoration on the implant via an abutment which may be cement or screw retained - your restorative dentist will select which option is best for your particular case.

Dr Herron will work closely with your referring dentist or prosthodontist to achieve optimal placement for chewing function and the highest aesthetic result possible, whilst also allowing for effective cleaning by you and your hygienist.
