LANAP & LAPIP

LANAP™  & LAPIP™

LANAP (Laser Assisted New Attachment Protocol) is a minimally invasive surgery utilizing  laser technology (PerioLase MVP-7Nd:YAG) to treat moderate to severe periodontal disease, which can regenerate bone and gum tissue.

LAPIP (Laser Assisted Peri-Implant Procedure) utilizes the same technology to treat peri-implantitis. It is used to target and vaporize harmful bacteria and regenerate bone around diseased or failing implants.

This laser technology is the first and currently only FDA approved laser for bone and tissue regeneration. No cutting or suturing is required making the post-operative phase much more comfortable for most patients and creating more predictable results.

LANAP benefits

As there is no traditional ‘cutting & sewing’  minimal bleeding is experienced during the treatment making patients who are on blood thinners a safe candidate. LANAP can increase bone density, vertical bone height, tissue height and decrease mobility - often making ‘wiggly’ teeth solid again. The laser targets diseased tissue and leaves healthy tissue unharmed.

Most patients use local anesthetic and need minimal pain medications such as ibuprofen or acetaminophen post-surgery. The procedure is well tolerated and the majority of patients report being pain free afterwards.

We use perioscopy with all LANAP/LAPIP  procedures to achieve optimal results and ensure complete removal of sub-gingival calculus and any other debris. We strongly believe in making each procedure we perform as precise, quality driven and as effective as possible, utilizing the latest technology and best clinical expertise in our office. It is the difference between a job well done or striving for perfection with exceptional results.

Dr Herron is a certified LANAP specialist, recognized by the Institute of Advanced Laser Dentistry and our hygiene team  are certified in the use of LPD (laser pocket disinfection) which is  used during subsequent periodontal maintenance per LANAP protocol. This keeps the overall bacterial load low and allows for continued healing and regeneration.
